Services

Crew management,
from recruitment to relief.

Full Crew Management is at the heart of what we do. We take responsibility for the people on board: finding and selecting them, planning their rotations, contracting and paying them, moving them to and from the vessel, and keeping the documentation and compliance behind all of that in order. If you manage certain crewing functions in-house, we can also provide individual services tailored to your operation.

How we work

Already working with another manager?

Changing provider does not have to disrupt the fleet

Most owners who talk to us are not starting from nothing — they already have a manager, and their real question is what a change would cost them in disruption. A transition is planned around crew changes and dry-dock windows, existing contracts and seafarer relationships are carried across rather than reset, and payroll, documentation and compliance records are taken over in an agreed sequence. Individual functions can also be transferred independently where this better suits the owner's operational requirements.

Common questions

What owners ask about crew management

A crew manager takes responsibility for a vessel's crew on the owner's behalf: sourcing and screening seafarers, planning rotations and reliefs, issuing employment agreements, running payroll and allotments, arranging travel and documentation, and maintaining MLC 2006 and flag-state compliance. The owner keeps commercial and technical control of the vessel; the crew manager makes sure the right people are on board, properly certified, properly paid and relieved on schedule.

Yes. Crew manning, payroll administration and travel and flag documentation can each be handled on their own, alongside whatever you keep in house or with an existing manager. They are the same functions we run inside Full Crew Management, delivered to the same standard — the difference is only how much of the function you choose to hand over.

We recruit internationally rather than from one national pool, selecting on competence, experience and suitability for the specific vessel. Screening is led by experienced maritime professionals, including a former Master, so candidates are assessed on practical suitability for the operation as well as on certificates. Every seafarer presented comes with complete, verifiable documentation.

During onboarding we build a tailor-made training matrix for each client and each vessel type, mapping the competences your operation actually requires rank by rank. Training is then delivered through recognised, accredited maritime institutions rather than a single in-house facility, so the standard stays measurable and independently verifiable. The matrix is reviewed with you as your fleet, trade and reporting requirements develop.

Employment agreements, hours of rest, wage records, medicals, certification and repatriation arrangements are maintained to MLC 2006 requirements and to the specific requirements of your flag. Martracon is MLC certified by RINA. Records are kept in a form that can be produced for owner, flag-state or port-state review without reconstruction.
